What is Sugar?

Sugar is the general term used to refer to sucrose; it is sometimes associated with high-fructose corn syrup and other sweeteners based on simple mono-saccharides or di-saccharides. These are the benchmark sweeteners with which all others, both natural and artificial, are compared.

Where is it used?

Sucrose or high-fructose corn syrup is used in every food and beverage application requiring sweetness. Sucrose based applications are high in caloric content. Sucrose is also a staple of the tabletop sweetener market.

Application issues with Sugar

The primary shortcoming of sugar lies in its connection to a growing number of health concerns. Diets high in simple sugars and carbohydrates are implicated in increased rates of diabetes, obesity and tooth decay. As the number of individuals suffering from these conditions increases, so does the need for alternative sweeteners which do not trigger these effects.

Magnasweet® Application Benefits

Because of Magnasweet®’s intense sweetness, it can be used as part of calorie-free sweetener systems to replace sugar or to greatly reduce sugar content in applications. As most Magnasweet® products are natural, they also give developers a tool for products that are free of artificial additives in addition to being low in sugar.
